Arborist
The City of Ashland has an opening for a full-time Arborist in the City Services Division.

Job Responsibilities:
Operate equipment in order to assist with the care and maintenance of trees located on City property (loader, back-hoe, dump truck, stump grinder, chain saw, etc.); inspect equipment to ensure safe operation;
Perform unskilled and semi-skilled laborer tasks (plant, dig, ball, and remove trees; chip brush; water trees; grind stumps, etc.);
Climb trees, using ropes and other climbing gear and working from ladders and bucket truck at heights up to 70 feet;
Direct traffic around work sites; assist with the maintenance and repair of arboriculture tools and equipment;
Operate equipment or perform unskilled and semi-skilled laborer tasks in order to assist with the completion of other department projects (haul materials, rake and pick up leaves, and shovel and rake dirt, asphalt, and other materials).

Can develop and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public
Qualifications:
Knowledgeable of basic arboriculture and basic equipment maintenance and repair practices and procedures;
Able to work under adverse weather conditions;
Able to lift and move up to fifty (50) pounds and move up to eighty (80) pounds with assistance.
Must be insurable under the City’s vehicle insurance policy.
Commercial Driver License (CDL) preferred but not required.
Compensation and Benefits:
$16.50 plus $0.50 increase after 6 month probationary period
Wage increases as outlined in the AFSCME contract
Year round work, no furloughs
Pension through OPERS with the City contributing an additional 14% and employees contributing 10% of wages.
