Service Worker - Sanitation
The City of Ashland has an opening for a full-time Service Worker in the City Services Division, Sanitation Department.

Job Responsibilities:
Perform general labor and maintenance on City owned property and equipment including handling materials, mowing, construction and other duties as assigned. Operate light and medium motorized equipment in order to assist with the efficient delivery of City services and utilities (i.e. dump truck to plow snow, spread salt, haul stone, gravel, and other materials; tractor; etc.); inspect equipment in order to ensure safe operation.
Perform unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled building and grounds maintenance and repair work (minor electrical repair, carpentry, plumbing, etc.). Clean up work sites, and services and maintains tools and equipment.
Perform general building and grounds maintenance and repair work (fix broken doors and windows, paint structures, install handrails, etc.).
Operate motorized equipment and performs unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled laborer tasks in order to assist with efficient delivery of City services and utilities (e.g. collect refuse and trash; plow snow; cut brush; rake and pick up leaves; mow; shovel and rake dirt and other materials, etc.).
Assist in preparing materials list for projects.
Assist in preparing and submitting records.
Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
We're looking for someone who:

Qualifications:
Has earned a high school diploma or a GED, plus 1 year experience general maintenance or labor or equivalent education and experience
Has a valid Ohio driver license and is eligible to drive City vehicles under our vehicle insurance policy
Able to lift and move up to fifty (50) pounds and move up to eighty (80) pounds with assistance.
Able to work in the various weather conditions found year round in Ohio
Compensation and Benefits:
$15.75 plus $0.50 increase after 6 month probationary period (additional $1.00 Sanitation Department Stipend)
Wage increases as outlined in the AFSCME contract
Year round work, no furloughs
Pension through OPERS with the City contributing an additional 14% and employees contributing 10% of wages
